Hoof Trimming

Hoof care is a collaborative  effort with each owner, and anyone that is a part of their care team. Together we will work to meet each horses needs as an individual,  and set goals for their progress. Trimming is only a small piece of hoof health. The other factors influencing hoof quality and growth are variables such as footing, weather conditions, diet, stressors, and movement. At each appointment you can expect us to take a holistic approach to assess all of these factors and what they mean for your horse. One of my top priorities as a hoof care provider is maintaining the physical, and mental comfort of each horse. This includes developing a relationship with them, respecting their boundaries, and not forcing compliance. I encourage veterinary involvement, particularly with rehab cases, and radiographs are a vital tool I am happy to work with.

Servicing Pima and Pinal counties!

Prices will vary depending on exact location. In remote areas I set up prescheduled rotations typically at 4 and 5 week intervals.

What to expect at my first appointment?

The first appointment will include a consultation prior to trimming. We will then have a discussion addressing all concerns, health history, assess movement, and note areas for improvementIt can be expected that the first trim will be the most conservative. This is especially true if the horse is just coming out of shoes or has not been trimmed for an extended period of time.

How do you accept payment?

All payment for services is due at the time of your appointment. Digital payments are accepted through PayPal or Zelle but are subject to a transaction fee. This is due to the cost related to electronic banking, and transfer fees incurred by business accounts.

How long can my horse go in-between trims?

I recommend all equines be maintained on a 5 week or less cycle. However, each horse will have the cycle set to their individual needs.  The longer a horse goes between trims the more the trim will be focused on managing distortions.  Proper trimming on a short interval will help improve hoof quality, balance, and encourage soft tissue development.
